Deposit Policy
Last updated: September 2026 · Applies to Switzerland (OR/CO Art. 402 ff.)
1. Purpose of the Deposit
InkSpot operates solely as a marketplace platform connecting clients with independent tattoo artists and studios in Switzerland and internationally. InkSpot is not the provider of the tattoo service; the booked artist or studio is the recipient of the booking deposit and is responsible for the tattoo appointment. The deposit compensates the artist or studio for reserving the appointment, refusing other clients for that time slot, communicating with the client and preparing the tattoo project. The deposit is credited toward the final tattoo price only when the appointment takes place.
2. Deposit Amount
Each artist or studio independently sets their deposit requirement. Deposit amounts are clearly disclosed on the booking confirmation before payment is made. Typical deposit amounts range from CHF 100 depending on the session length and complexity. The deposit is credited toward the final tattoo price only when the appointment takes place.
3. Payment Processing
All deposits are processed securely through Stripe, a PCI-DSS Level 1 certified payment processor. InkSpot does not store card details. Accepted payment methods include Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. Payments are processed in CHF or the currency agreed upon at booking.
4. Non-Refundable Client Cancellations
All booking deposits are non-refundable when the client cancels the appointment, regardless of how early or late the cancellation occurs. The deposit remains payable to the booked artist or studio in all of the following cases:
- The client cancels the appointment for any reason
- The client does not attend the confirmed appointment (no-show)
- The client asks to postpone or reschedule the appointment
- The client repeatedly changes the agreed appointment
- The client decides not to proceed with the tattoo
- The client arrives too late and the artist or studio can no longer perform the appointment
In these cases the client has no right to a refund. Any voluntary goodwill refund or transfer is entirely at the artist's or studio's discretion (see Sections 5 and 7).
5. Rescheduling
If the artist or studio accepts a rescheduled appointment, they may voluntarily transfer the existing deposit to the new date. This is entirely at the artist's or studio's discretion and does not create a right to a refund.
6. Full Refund Cases
A full refund of the deposit is only provided when: (a) the artist or studio cancels the appointment and does not offer an acceptable replacement date; (b) a duplicate or incorrect payment was caused by a technical error; or (c) a refund is mandatory under applicable law.
7. Force Majeure
In exceptional and documented force-majeure situations, the artist or studio may voluntarily approve a refund or transfer the deposit to another appointment. The client has no automatic right to such a refund unless required by law.
8. Transfer of Funds (Stripe Connect)
If a client cancellation, no-show or postponement occurs, Stripe Connect releases or transfers the deposit to the connected Stripe account of the booked artist or studio, subject to Stripe's processing procedures. InkSpot does not retain the portion belonging to the artist or studio.
9. Consumer Rights (Swiss Law)
This policy complies with the Swiss Code of Obligations (OR) and applicable consumer protection regulations. Clients who believe a deposit has been wrongfully withheld may contact InkSpot support at inkspot83@outlook.com. Disputes not resolved directly may be referred to the Swiss consumer arbitration body (Schlichtungsstelle für Konsumentenstreitigkeiten).
